The article by Leon Kass, â€Å"The Wisdom of Repugnance†, states that cloning is morally wrong because it puts humans in the place of God. Cloning used to not be a big problem because it was not possible, but with technological advances making it possible, it has become a moral problem. Kass addresses this problem in his article when he writes: â€Å" In a world whose once-given natural boundaries are blurred by technological change and whose moral boundaries are seemingly up for grabs, it is much more difficult to make persuasive the still compelling case against cloning human beings† (18). People are eased into cloning through movies and TV shows. These forms of entertainment have made people more open to the idea of cloning. Over the†¦show more content†¦Victor is given the knowledge of creating the monster, yet he doesn’t use that knowledge to think about the consequences of what he’s making. He only contemplates whether he should mak e something simple or advanced. He doesn’t contemplate not making it because he’s already made up his mind to make the monster. Victor would have done well to heed Kass’s warning: â€Å"Repugnance†¦ revolts against the excesses of human willfulness, warning us not to transgress what is unspeakably profound† (Kass 20). Even if people have â€Å"good† ideas, they are really bad ideas, and Victor should have stuck to his â€Å"gut feeling† that was telling him it wasn’t morally right. Victor realizes his mistake after it’s too late. After his cousin, Justine, is murdered by the monster, Victor feels like it’s his fault because he created the monster. He expresses regret at creating the monster when he says, â€Å"Remorse extinguished every hope. I had been the author of unalterable evils, and I had lived in daily fear† (Sheley 95). Looking back on what he created, feeling sorry for himself, sorrow and fear are the only things on Victor’s mind. Victor can’t change the fact that he created something evil. He knows deep inside he shouldn’t have created the monster, but now it’s too late to do anything about it, and he lives in despair and fear.
